We’ve all been in this situation. You’ve just finished an amazing song but you don’t have a large amount of fans and you seem to be stuck. You’re almost thinking of giving up on producing music all together.

Please don’t give up, I’ve got a few tips that might be able to help you gain some more fans!

Take your time when you make a song

There is nothing worse than making a track, just so you can show the world you made one. Take your time to perfect the song and try to improve it as much as possible.

Master your songs or get it mastered by someone else

If you’re happy with your song, make sure that it’s mastered properly. Creating a song is one thing, but giving it a genuine feeling will require some mastering. We need to be able to feel that bass you added, or hear those snares, otherwise they’ll get lost in the song.

Share your music

The most important thing is to share your music. No one is going to hear it if you just upload it on a website and leave it at that. Share your music in groups and sent it to promoters/ influential people that will enjoy your song.

I’m not saying you should SPAM people with your track! We all hate those Soundcloud comments and YouTube messages. It is indeed a way to get your track out there, but people aren’t going to like you for it and they’ll ignore you the next time you’ll sent them a song.

Be active and helpful

Be active on multiple platforms (Facebook, Soundcloud, YouTube,…) and comment on other people their songs. Give tips and suggestion on how they could improve their song and maybe even collaborate with them.

Accept criticism and rejection 

Not everybody can be perfect, so you’ll make some mistakes.But don’t attack the people that point out a problem. Just kindly reply, see if they’re correct and if so, fix it!

Improve

Always try to improve yourself and don’t recycle to much from your previous songs. I’m ok with a sound here and there that you’ve used before, but don’t reuses whole drum patterns or melodies. People want to discover new music, not some recycled song.

Rome wasn’t build in a day

Keep making music, even if you’ve gotten some bad comments. You’re doing what you like and no one should stop you from doing that. Keep making your music and keep sending it to promoters, one day they’ll reply.
